CPES and CCPES Certification
IAPE offers certification for Property and Evidence Specialists. Certification indicates that property and evidence personnel have met certain training and experience requirements, and is now considered a specialist in the field.
We offer two types of certification: Certified Property and Evidence Specialist (CPES) is primarily designed for Law Enforcement Personnel, and the Corporate Certified Property and Evidence Specialist (CCPES) is the designation for private sector and corporate individuals.

Requirements
There are 5 criteria that must be met to become a certified property and evidence specialist:- Current IAPE membership
- Satisfactory completion of IAPE's Property and Evidence Management Training Class.
- Applicant must have served for one year, full-time or 2080 hours part-time as a property and evidence custodian
- Submit an application and pay a fee to take the certification test
- Achieve a satisfactory grade on the certification Test (taken online).

How to Apply
Please follow these steps to complete the application for certification. NOTE the slightly different requirements for the CPES and CCPES application. The online test is the same.- Complete the online application form
- Verify your length of service as a property and evidence custodian. We will need to contact your superior:
- CPES - your Chief of Police, Sheriff or designee (i.e. agencey CEO) must confirm your term of service
- CCPES - term of work experience must be verified by
Director of Security (or equivalent title)
- Pay securely online or by check (mailing instructions provided after registration is complete;
CPES fee = $150 USD CCPES fee = $200 USD

CPES / CCPES Online Test
Once your application, fees and work experience are verified, you will be contacted with the procedures and time frame for your Online Certification Test.The test will take approximately 60 minutes online, and the test needs to be completed, fully once you have begun. Once completed, you will be notified immediately with your results. After successfully completing the test you will be mailed your official IAPE CPES or CCPES certificate.
