JOB_DUTIES: Under general supervision, administers
all aspects of the department’s property function to include clerical and
technical work in the preservation and safeguarding of evidence in the
possession of the policy department. This position is responsible for the
supervision and coordination of the receipt, preservation, and release
of property and evidence in accordance with applicable federal and state
laws and City ordinances.
REQUIIREMENTS: Requires graduation from an
accredited high school or any combination of education equivalent; Associates
degree preferred; law enforcement experience preferred; formal training
in property and evidence management; and a minimum of four years of experience
as a Property Room Technician or similar position with a law enforcement
agency, thus having considerable experience in inventory control, property
management, operating office equipment and maintaining files and records.

NATURE OF WORK:
Performs highly responsible supervisory work in the receipt, storage,
and issuance of police property in a manner which preserves the chain of
evidence. Work is of more than average difficulty and requires that the
employee direct the maintenance of records and preparation of receipts.
Although procedures are well defined and must be strictly followed, reasonable
initiative and independent judgment are required when supervising employees
and directing operations of the property room and impound lot. Directs
the work of employees engaged in taking custody of, and being responsible
for, safekeeping of all money, property, and other valuables that come
into the hands of the police department as evidence, by confiscation, or
by recovery of lost and stolen articles. Retrieves confiscated valuables
from vault storage areas for releasing to officers for court or for the
return to property owners. Oversees security and maintenance of the impound
lot. Prepares activity reports. Employee might be required to work rotating
shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Performs related work
as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High-school or vocational-school graduation and considerable experience
in the storage and issuance of evidence and related materials with reasonable
supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License; a valid Florida Commercial
Driver’s License might be required.

Position Summary: Direct, manage and coordinate the programs
